Just like any form of gambling, blackjack is filled with superstitious players who believe they can influence the outcome of games through their beliefs. And one of the most common beliefs blackjack players hold is that they can move around to find the hot tables.
For example, if you begin playing at a certain blackjack table and lose 8 out of the first 10 hands, you can pick your chips up and move to the next table. Assuming you were to win the next 7 or so hands, you've just found the hot table.
Some people also use the reverse thinking with this method by trying to find blackjack dealers who are cold. These players will sit down at a table (or just watch from the side), and make small bets in the beginning to see how the dealer fares. If the dealer keeps losing, players are much more likely to stay because the dealer is on a major losing streak.
The whole logic behind moving from table to table in search of the hot blackjack tables is all based on streaks, and for whatever reason, some players think they're more likely to experience winning streaks rather than losing streaks with this method.
However, the truth is that your long-term win rate isn't going to improve just because you're moving from one table to another. Sure you might get luckier at another table and win 10 blackjack hands in a row, but this has little to do with any measurable type of strategy. Instead, it's just the simple variance of blackjack. After all, you could just as easily have lost the next 10 hands after moving.
But even with this being said, if table hopping makes you enjoy the game more, then by all means keep doing it.
